ERCOT Reports All-Time May Peak Power Demand

ERCOT reported an all-time peak demand high for May, as the grid-operator deals with a pre-summer heat wave that is enveloping the Gulf Coast region. Demand hit 61,519 MW between 5 and 6 p.m. on May 17, more than 2,200 MW higher than the May 2017 record. That broke the mark of 61,148 MW set the previous day.
