GDF SUEZ Energy Resources Supplies Renewable Energy Certificates for Seventh Consecutive Year to 2016 Globalcon Conference & Expo

The move reinforces the retail energy supplier’s commitment to supporting the Association of Energy Engineers’ global sustainability goals.

BOSTON – March 1, 2016 – For the seventh consecutive year, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, Inc. – the third-largest non-residential electricity provider in the United States – will supply renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the Globalcon Conference & Expo. The Association of Energy Engineers’ (AEE) 2016 event will be held March 9-10 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, which will rebrand under the ENGIE name in 2016, is supplying a quantity of Green-e® Energy Certified RECs targeted to match the expected electricity consumption during the two-day conference and expo.

These certificates represent the environmental attributes of electricity generated from wind, solar, and other renewable generation facilities that meet certain vintage and production standards. Organizations that use RECs to offset their indirect greenhouse gas emissions help fund the operation and development of domestic sources of renewable energy.

“It’s an honor to continue our long-standing support of AEE’s commitment to clean energy,” said JD Burrows, Vice President of Marketing for GDF SUEZ Energy Resources. “We share in the organization’s dedication to environmental responsibility and are proud to help the association strike the right balance between operational objectives and sustainable priorities.”
AEE Executive Director Albert Thumann said, “The supply of green power reflects our ongoing effort to reduce the environmental impact of the conference and educate professionals on the importance of sustainable strategies. We’re pleased to have the continued backing of an industry leader like GDF SUEZ Energy Resources to help us achieve that as we work to keep eco-friendly energy management at the forefront of discussions on industry best practices.”

Globalcon is aimed at business, industry, and government leaders who are seeking energy solutions that assure a safe, secure power supply and effective management of costs. Attendees can visit the GDF SUEZ Energy Resources booth, No. 706, to investigate how the company can assist them with strategies for mitigating commodity market risks, managing demand and consumption, and maximizing the opportunities of competitive energy markets.
