Electricity Spot Prices: Why Can’t We Be Trends?
November 06, 2018
As of Monday, Nov 5, electricity spot prices for daily delivery in all but one market served by ENGIE are in flat or neutral trading ranges. New England has been in this state of flux for 19 of the past 30 days. For New York City and Houston, it’s 25 and 20 respectively.
The two markets that show some inclination to be trendy are the Midwest and Mid Atlantic. The Midwest is neutral as of this writing but has only been in this state for 13 of the past 30 sessions. The other days have shown “uptrend.” The Mid Atlantic is currently “uptrend” and nearly mirrors the Mid Atlantic with 14 of the most recent 30 at uptrend versus 16 at neutral trend.
