U.S. LNG Imports: Not Dead Yet

Despite prolific domestic U.S. natural gas production, the nation still imports natural gas. While the U.S. is on the verge of becoming the third largest LNG exporter, the states imported about 1.93 bcf/d over the first ten months of 2018 according to EIA data. At its peak, the U.S. imported 3.6 bcf/d over a similar period in 2007. For a global comparison, the 28 nations in the EU import about 5.1 bcf/d.
