Winter Starts with Double Digit Degree Day Differential
November 04, 2019
The 2019-2020 winter heating season has roared in. Population-weighted heating degree days (HDDs) for week one and the forecast for week two have been accompanied by a 20-cent jump in Henry Hub CME NYMEX spot natural gas prices.
Trick-or-Trick activities across much of the Northeast were cancelled as high winds ushered in the start of winter.
While week one of winter in New England and the Mid Atlantic was mild, the chill had already arrived in East North Central and West South Central regions and was headed East. For the forecast week ending Nov 9, all four regions are showing double digit surpluses of HDDs versus historic norms.
