Ford Energy Enters Grid-Scale Storage Market
Ford has launched Ford Energy, a new subsidiary focused on grid-scale battery storage. The company plans to deliver at least 20 GWh annually starting in 2027. The new wholly owned subsidiary will manufacture U.S.-assembled battery energy storage systems (BESS) for utilities, data centers, and large commercial and industrial customers, targeting at least 20 GWh of annual capacity, with first customer deliveries expected in late 2027.
As renewable generation expands and electricity demand continues to rise, energy storage is playing a more central role in grid reliability, peak management, and long‑term cost and risk control. Storage is increasingly used to manage renewable variability, support congestion relief, and improve system flexibility during high‑load periods.
