U.S. LNG Exports Grow as Global Supply Pressures Persist
The global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market continues to grow in importance, with the United States playing an increasingly significant role. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), U.S. LNG exports are forecast to average approximately 17.0 billion cubic feet per day in 2026, as new export projects start operations and existing facilities run at slightly higher utilization rates.
Recent geopolitical disruptions have also reinforced LNG’s role in global energy security. The EIA notes that these disruptions are increasing demand for LNG cargoes from outside the strait, including from the United States. The agency also notes that the disrupted volumes, mostly concentrated in Qatar, represent more than 10 Bcf/d, or about 20% of global supply, underscoring the importance of diversified supply sources.
