ERCOT Outlook Highlights Fall Grid Variables
The ERCOT October 2026 Monthly Outlook for Resource Adequacy (MORA) evaluates whether available generation resources could meet expected electricity demand during the month. The report uses probabilistic modeling and defined operating scenarios to assess potential emergency conditions and available operating reserves.
The analysis considers several factors that can affect grid conditions, including hourly demand, solar and wind generation, unplanned thermal-generator outages, and battery availability.
ERCOT also modeled a hypothetical 8 p.m. scenario involving low wind output and limited battery availability. The results illustrate how multiple constraints occurring simultaneously could increase the modeled risk of emergency conditions. The scenario is a planning analysis, not a forecast of actual conditions.
