U.S. Renewable Energy Share Hits Historic High

The U.S. energy landscape is entering a historic phase. According to the latest outlook from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), renewable energy sources – primarily wind and solar – are projected to account for more than one-quarter of US electricity generation by 2026, according to EIA’s latest outlook.

This growth is fueled by continued investment in utility-scale solar projects, expanding wind capacity, and the integration of battery storage to stabilize intermittent generation. For commercial energy customers, this milestone signals a pivotal opportunity: as renewables become a larger part of the grid mix, businesses can leverage green procurement strategies to meet sustainability goals and hedge against long-term carbon exposure.
