The 2026 Business Energy Census, developed by ENGIE and in partnership with Energy Research Consulting Group (ERCG), offers a pulse check on the evolving priorities of over 100 aggregators, brokers, and consultants representing thousands of customer locations across North America.

The report highlights how organizations are navigating rising demand, ongoing price pressures, and an increasingly complex energy landscape. One of the clearest findings is that energy is no longer viewed solely as an operational expense. Nearly half (48%) of respondents said energy has become more strategic within their organizations, up from 38% in 2025. Businesses are increasingly evaluating energy decisions through the lens of growth, resilience, sustainability, and long-term competitiveness.

As Anne‑Laure Chassanite, North America B2B Supply CEO at ENGIE Resources, noted:

“Energy is becoming a strategic priority as price volatility and demand continue to evolve. Organizations are balancing cost management with sustainability goals, reinforcing the need for reliable energy solutions and experienced collaborators to navigate an increasingly complex landscape.”
