The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently issued an emergency order supporting grid operations across the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) region during a period of elevated electricity demand. The action was intended to help maintain reliability across portions of the central United States, where the SPP footprint spans 17 states and serves millions of electricity customers.
