November 08, 2024
EcoVadis is a leading, independent third-party measure of an organization’s sustainability performance. Others include Refinitive, S&P, Morningstar, Bloomberg, and CDP. EcoVadis is one of the first and most robust platforms.
EcoVadis is considered an "evidence-based" sustainability rating platform. Companies are required to provide supporting documents and verifiable proof to substantiate sustainability claims when assessed, making the rating system reliant on concrete evidence rather than self-reported data alone.
The platform integrates external inputs to augment company-provided documentation and data sources. It employes a 360° view approach that combines Artificial Intelligence with human analysis to identify the most relevant news and commentary stories within the past five years from over 100,000 public sources.
Founded in 2007, EcoVadis creates scorecards for 130,000 organizations across 155 countries. The scorecard includes indicators on labor and human rights, sustainable procurement, ethics, and the environment. The latter two have a higher impact on scores.
ENGIE’s EcoVadis rating is 78/100, placing it in the top 1%.
