PJM Sees Summer, Winter Peak Load Growth Of 0.4 Percent Annually

PJM projected average summer and winter peak load growth of 0.4 percent annually for the next 10- and 15-year periods. In its 2018 load forecast report, the grid operator said it expected summer peak to be 157,635 MW in 2028 – up 5,527 MW over the next decade – and 162,095 MW in 2033, for a 15-year rise of 9,987 MW. The RTO estimated winter peak load will be 136,702 in 2027/2028, a 10-year increase of 5,239 MW, and 139,975 MW in 2032/2033, up 8,512 MW. Net energy for load growth is expected to rise 0.4 percent annually during the next 10 years and 0.5 percent over the next 15 years.
