Coal’s Share of U.S. Generation to Increase in 2021

The natural gas share of U.S. electricity generation will drop from 39% in 2020 to 34% in 2021, according to EIA. The drop is attributable to higher prices. Coal’s share will increase from 20% to 24%. New wind and solar generating capacity will boost the share of renewables to 22%, up from 20% year-over-year.
