Consumer Confidence Slips

The Consumer Confidence Index for May decreased after a small increase in April. The index is measured by The Confidence Board and attributes the decline to consumer assessment of current business and labor market conditions. The index fell month-over-month from 108.6 to 106.4 with intentions to make major purchasing decisions such as cars, homes and major appliances weighing heavily.
