Efficiency Investment Falls in 2020
January 04, 2021
According to the International Energy Agency, investment in energy efficiency is projected to have dropped by 9% in 2020 year-over-year, continuing a trend since 2015. Investments in new energy-efficiency buildings, equipment, and vehicles dropped and much of it can be attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Uncertainty about future revenue is likely to be leading businesses to reprioritize investments, with spending on efficiency measures facing pressure as energy prices remain low,” the report said.
