ENGIE and Apple Ink Green Deal
October 27, 2025
ENGIE just took a big step forward in the energy transition by signing a 15-year renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple. This partnership means ENGIE will build new wind and solar projects in southern Italy, adding 173 MW of installed capacity. Once up and running (between 2026 and 2027), these sites will generate over 400 GWh of electricity each year.
Apple will get 80% of that energy to power its operations, while the remaining 20% will be injected into the grid, helping to meet the yearly needs of approximately 30,000 households. The environmental impact is more than 160,000 tons of CO₂ emissions avoided every year, which is like taking nearly 70,000 cars off the road.
These long-term green electricity contracts enable businesses to secure stable energy prices, reduce exposure to market volatility, and significantly lower their carbon footprint.
