ERCOT Solar Set to Shine

Major markets in ERCOT are experiencing heat indices of more than 110 degrees as the one-year anniversary of record peak demand and prices approach.
While onshore wind has its dependable capacity at peak challenges, offshore wind and solar are gaining traction. Some industry analysts see solar as the savior for ERCOT’s August and September extremes and point to 2019 as a proof point.
Texas ranks 5th nationally in solar generation with 4,606 installed MW. Prices have fallen 40% over the past five years, according to the Solar Energy Industry Association.
