Eversource Warns on Winter
November 07, 2022
Eversource is requesting the White House to use emergency powers to avoid an energy shortfall this winter in New England. The Eversource CEO wrote that he is deeply concerned about a potential severe impact on the region including blackouts and a dearth of natural gas in a period of severe cold.
The letter warns that increasing New England reliance on foreign-sourced natural gas could indirectly benefit the Russian war effort.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities estimates that natural gas rates could be 27% higher year-over-year.
