Fed Rate Cut Ahead?
October 27, 2025
The Federal Reserve is likely staying the course on an expected rate cut. Despite the government shutdown, CPI data was released in October, providing a slightly cooler inflation reading for last month. The 0.3% increase is an important indicator, but with jobs data, retail sales, and the Producer Price Index largely unavailable, the Fed’s decision will rely more heavily on the CPI and other available data.
The CPI data is required to be released in order to calculate Social Security cost of living increases. The report provides a small glimpse into the US economy, which as of yet has not had major impacts from announced tariffs.
