GDF SUEZ Energy Resources to Discuss Electricity Risk Management for South Texas Businesses

“Power Breakfast” Set for March 3 in Corpus Christi; Topics Include Rules for Purchasing Electricity, Understanding “Fine Print” in Contracts

Houston – February 10, 2010 – GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, the retail energy business of GDF SUEZ Energy North America, will hold a “Power Breakfast” in Corpus Christi March 3 to help area commercial and industrial businesses and institutions better understand and manage the risks associated with today’s competitive electricity marketplace.

Experts from GDF SUEZ Energy Resources will cover a broad range of issues critical to South Texas businesses and institutions. Topics to be addressed will include: exploring the “fine print” in energy contracts, explaining upcoming changes in the ERCOT market, and understanding the fundamentals of the commercial and industrial electricity market.

The event is scheduled from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel, Marina Tower, 707 North Shoreline Blvd.

Three speakers will be featured:

-Liana Lee, Regional Sales Representative for GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, who manages sales to commercial, industrial and institutional customers in South Texas and will give the opening remarks;

-Lily Le, Regional Sales Manager for GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, who will focus on how customers can simplify electricity purchasing; and

-Andrew Elliott, Director, Supply and Portfolio Management for GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, who will discuss market fundamentals and provide an update on the approaching shift from a Zonal to a Nodal market in Texas.

A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.

“Today’s electricity marketplace can move very quickly, so it’s important that businesses have the facts they need to manage change and the risks that can accompany it,” said Gail Workman, Regional Vice President, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA. “Our goal is to provide information that helps commercial and industrial users make informed purchasing decisions to better manage their energy costs and potentially save them money.”

“Power Breakfast” is part of an ongoing customer education initiative that GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, the second-largest provider of non-residential energy in the United States, has undertaken in the markets it serves. The program is in part a response to research showing that over half of business decision makers want education in managing electricity price risk, and nearly three-fourths want to do business with an electricity provider that is financially stable.
