GDF SUEZ Subsidiary to Open Philadelphia Office, Underscoring Commitment to Serving Customers in Region

New Location Will Be Company’s Base for City, Eastern Pennsylvania, Mid-Atlantic States

PHILADELPHIA – DECEMBER 1, 2010 – GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, the retail energy business of GDF SUEZ Energy North America, announced today it will open an office in Philadelphia to serve commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in the PECO electricity market and throughout the region. Located at 225 City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, the office will be the company’s base of operations not only for Philadelphia and eastern Pennsylvania, but also southern New Jersey, northern Maryland, and Delaware starting in January 2011.

“This is another example of our commitment to this area in general, and to Philadelphia and Pennsylvania in particular,” said David Braun, Regional Vice President - Sales, PJM Region, of GDF SUEZ Energy Resources. “We’ve experienced strong growth in the state already, and believe this added presence will further reinforce our efforts to deliver the advantages of a competitive electricity marketplace to more and more customers.”

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources first began service to business customers in Pennsylvania in 2004. In 2009, Braun said, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources increased its efforts in Pennsylvania in anticipation of the expiration of regulated rate caps in 2010 and 2011 and has secured contracts with a total load of more than 1,000 megawatts. “I think that shows companies are looking for the kind of financial stability, price transparency, and range of flexible products and services we offer,” he added.

Braun also said that the Philadelphia office, which is currently being renovated prior to occupancy, will bring a pair of added benefits to the area: jobs and community involvement.

“As our business in and around the city continues to grow, I expect we will be bringing on more staff,” he continued. “And given GDF SUEZ’s longstanding dedication to good corporate citizenship, we’ll be looking for opportunities to contribute to the community as well.”

In addition to the PECO territory, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources also serves the regional markets of PPL, Met-Ed, Penelec, Duquesne Light, and Allegheny Power (West Penn). To learn more about the company’s commitment to Pennsylvania, go to www.rediscoverenergypa.com.

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA is the second largest non-residential retail energy supplier in the U.S. and currently serves commercial and industrial customers in 11 markets: Delaware, Texas, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C. The company serves over 60,000 accounts for customers having a peak demand ranging from 50 KW to more than 200 MW, with an estimated peak load totaling nearly 10,000 MW.
