Interest Growing for U.S. LNG Exports

Industry analysts are reporting renewed interest from China in U.S. LNG exports. A significant increase is on deck for 2021-2025, which will put pressure on natural gas prices in North America. Global LNG consumption had record growth in 2018 and 2019 but declined in 2020 due to softer demand resulting from COVID-19, in addition to high levels of storage following a mild winter.  After exporting a high of 8 bcf/d in January 2020, U.S. exports dropped to 3.1 bcf/d in July.
