ISO-NE Says Forward Capacity Market Auction A Success
February 06, 2015
Officials with New England-ISO said an auction to secure the amount of power generation necessary for 2018-19 has produced sufficient resources for most of the region. The Forward Capacity Market auction yielded more than 1,400 MW of new capacity. Much of that will come from Connecticut, according to officials with ISO-NE. While the grid operator doesn’t identify the auction winners by name, it does provide their location and the amount of power the generation facilities are expected to produce. Lacey Girard, a spokeswoman for ISO-NE, said the auction winners included a 725-MW power plant in Oxford, Conn., and a pair of 45-MW megawatt generators in Wallingford, Conn.
