ISO-NE Secures Necessary Power to Meet 2021-22 Demand

February 20, 2018

ISO-New England announced it has secured 34,828 MW of capacity to meet peak demand in the 2021-2022 season. The target was 33,725, leaving a 1,103 MW surplus. The clearing price in the capacity auction was $4.63 per kilowatt-month, compared with $5.30 and $7.30 in 2016 and 2015, respectively. Resources totaling 40,612 MW qualified to bid in this year's forward auction, signaling that New England has plenty of capacity in the pipeline.
