ISO New England Sees Adequate Summer Resources, But Supply Could Tighten

May 01, 2017

New England should have enough power to meet demand this summer, but an extended heat wave could make supplies tight, ISO New England said. Under normal weather of about 90 degrees, electricity demand is expected to peak at 26,482 MW, the system operator forecast. Extreme summer weather, like an extended heat wave of about 94 degrees, could push demand up to 28,865 MW. The region has approximately 29,400 MW of capacity available.
