New York Heats Up
July 29, 2024
With high temps hitting the Big Apple recently, New Yorkers were urged to conserve during peak hours. During a roughly two-week heat wave, temperatures hit almost 100 degrees.
After concerns of overburdening the grid, ConEdison first issued the conservation alert on July 7 and then again on July 15, in an effort to avoid blackouts. ConEd’s system serves 3.6 million customers in New York City and Westchester County.
This summer, AccuWeather predicts New York to have twice as many 90-degree days compared to last year.
