Refund in ComEd

Business customers in the ComEd service region may be entitled to refunds, thanks to the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA). The law includes a “Carbon Mitigation Credit” designed to help keep three nuclear power plants open. It also provides protection to customers if wholesale energy prices exceed a certain level. Market prices have reached the point where nuclear plants are benefiting from extreme market prices. CEJA requires the owner of these nuclear plants to give the subsidy back to customers in the form of credits that run from June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023.
