Natural gas producers and exporters are looking to third-party organizations to prove their products release less methane and other pollutants. The goal is customers who are willing to pay a premium for gas that comes from low-emitting fields. The industry suffers from fugitive emissions of gas from wellheads, storage tanks, and other equipment. One such third-party is Project Canary. It uses a system of cameras to record pollution levels and alert operators. Project Canary offers TrustWell, a certification standard that it claims is the most comprehensive across the energy value chain.
