Rhode Island Raises Renewables Bar

It may be the smallest state, but Rhode Island has made a big statement when it comes to sustainability. The state has approved a law that requires its electricity use to be completely offset by renewables by 2033. Rhode Island’s Renewable Energy Standard target will increase by an additional 4% in 2023; 5% in 2024; 6% in 2025; 7% in 2026 and 2027; 7.5% in 2028; 8% in 2029, 8.5% in 2030, 9% in 2031 and 9.5% in 2032, to achieve the 100% goal in 2033.
