Seasonal Weather Wildcards
October 27, 2025
There are several weather trends that could shape energy pricing and demand in fall 2025.
First, late-season warmth is expected across many US regions, potentially extending cooling demand and delaying the start of heating season. Second, there are signals pointing to reduced rainfall and dry conditions in key regions, which may reduce hydropower output and increase wildfire risk. Additionally, parts of the Eastern US, California and Texas are expected to experience below normal wind speeds.
With traditional government data sources limited during the shutdown, other energy and technology intelligence tools help provide seasonal indicators.
