Slowdown in Clean Energy Deployment
August 01, 2022
Although there is a record amount of clean energy in development, the rate of growth has slowed substantially in the second quarter as policy headwinds, economic factors, and trade issues have impacted development and increased the backlog of new project delays.
American Clean Power reports a second quarter 55% decline in project installations from the same period in 2021, with 3,188 MW of utility-scale clean power capacity installed.
Energy storage was the only technology to experience growth, with a 13% increase in installations. Solar installations were down 53% and onshore wind installations were 78% lower year-over-year.
