Storage Sets New Record
October 23, 2023
There appears to be no stopping storage. The energy storage market in the U.S. is on pace to nearly double annual installations in 2023. Supply chain issues and interconnection delays are not stopping the momentum as storage in the U.S. added 5,597 MWh in the second quarter, including 5,109 MWh in grid scale installations.
According to a report from American Clean Power Association and Wood Mackenzie, the grid scale tally is a new record as large end-users turn to storage to enhance the grid and improve reliability. Projects that were previously delayed bounced back, but another 2 GW is still waiting in the wings.
