Summer Wrap, Fall Outlook
September 02, 2025
Summer 2025 weather looks a lot like 2024 in several regions. Double digit percentage departures from normal are commonplace. The East North Central region, home to Chicago, is 25% warmer year-over-year and 21% higher than normal. Temps in Chicago have increased by 1.7 degrees since 1990 and winters are warming twice as fast. The census region that includes ERCOT is the only region served by ENGIE Resources that is cooler this summer year-over-year. However, Texas has indeed experienced a summer that is significantly above normal trends.
A true sign of fall, the arrival of pumpkin flavored drinks at coffee shops, sends us to NOAA for a look at its seasonal temperature outlook for October – December. Above average chances of high temperatures are forecast for most of the nation. New England, which is coming off an unseasonably warm summer, is the most likely to experience a warm fall among the jurisdictions served by ENGIE Resources.
