NYISO has produced a graphic that highlights the impact of social distancing and COVID-19 on hourly load patterns. The morning peak arrives later. Commercial demand is lower. Residential demand is higher. And overall consumption is down is significantly lower. “The sudden departure from historical behavioral patterns caused by New York’s response to COVID-19 is historically unprecedented. As more data is available, our forecasting team will further refine forecasts based on the societal changes we are seeing,” NYISO said in a statement.
