Windy City Winter Storms Back

Winter in Chicago was on vacation through the week ending February 6. Heating Degree Days (HDDs) versus normal were averaging 42 below average each week. All that changed with the week ending February 13 as a genuine arctic blast delivered HDDs that were 120 above average. The next week was similar at 101 HDDs above history. The city has seen nine consecutive days of snowfall this season, matching the record set in 1943.
