Natural Gas Tops ERCOT Generation Mix

Natural gas accounted for 50 percent of ERCOT’s generation mix in August, and has now topped the fuel stack for six of the first eight months of the year – second to coal only in January and April. But coal was still No. 2 in August, supplying over 30 percent of total demand. Nuclear gained about 2 percent from July, to reach more than 9 percent of total generation. But that was below the August 2016 figure, which was about 11 percent.
