Consumer Confidence Slips

The latest Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index fell month-over-month from 101.4 to 96.1. The drop indicates slowing growth in 4Q. Consumer spending represents 70% of the US economy. The index stood at 132.6 in February but dropped to 85.7 in April. Five thousand households are asked five questions that represent an appraisal of both current and future economic conditions.
