Gas Traders Take Bearish Turn

Larger traders of natural gas futures and options took a bearish turn in the most recent CFTC Commitment of Traders report. Since 2022 began, non-commercial traders have, on average, held positions that were 56% overall net long. In the latest CFTC report, these traders slipped to 52% net long. Non-commercial traders include hedge funds and large financials. Futures prices tend to positively correlate with their positions.
